Student Work

Student work (assignments and exams) that is delivered to the Departments is the most concrete indication of the knowledge and skills we have imparted to our students.^2.8We, therefore, need systems and policies for capture and on-line retention of all student course work together with the corresponding scores and feedback by instructors, graders, and TAs:

• to provide feedback for our continuous improvement process.
• to facilitate reporting to accreditation boards,
• to facilitate detection and prosecution of cheating,
• to facilitate resolution of grading disputes,
• to aid in providing feedback to students, e.g., to aid in advising,^2.9
• to allow instructors to more accurately target their instruction ot the competencies and needs of their students by reviewing the portfolios of the students, especially those having difficulty,^2.10
• to provide ideas for future offerings of courses.
